Board of Management
The NPA is a democratic organisation - and at the forefront of its structure is an elected Board of Management. The Board meets ten times a year to direct the overall policy and operation of the Association.

There are 23 Board Members, 21 of whom represent a region of the UK and 2 co-opted members representing the Lloyds and Alliance pharmacy groups. Only full members of the NPA can become Board Members and they are elected by the membership for a three year term of office. Members of the NPA Board, coming as they do from all parts of the UK, are truly representative of the nation's community pharmacy profession.

The Board elects a Chairman, Vice Chairman and Treasurer annually. Each Board Member sits on one of three standing sub-committees - Finance, Business and Practice. Every three years the Board selects five of its members to act as representatives on the PSNC and one member to act as European representative on the PGEU and Europharm Forum organisations.

Chairman for 2008-9 is Paul Bennett who joined the NPA Board of Management in 2007 as a representative of Alliance-Boots. Paul is Professional Standards Director and Superintendent Pharmacist at Boots UK Ltd.

Paul Bennett is joined by the newly elected Vice-Chairman for 2008-9, Ian Facer, who represents NPA members in the North West of England (Area 14), and Wally Dove, who has been reappointed Treasurer, representing NPA members in the South of England (Area 10).

On becoming NPA Chairman, Paul Bennett commented: “It is a great honour to have been chosen by my colleagues to serve and represent the NPA membership. The NPA has huge strength drawn from the fact that virtually all community pharmacy owners are members. I will use the NPA’s strength to ensure that the whole sector is able to move forward as one.
