NPA Chairman, Ian Facer, comments on the items discussed at the June 2010 Board meeting:
“The Board discussed the latest developments in health care policy, with a particular emphasis on possible changes to commissioning arrangements in England.”
“Whilst we await an NHS white paper, many questions remain unanswered about the detail of Health policy in the years to come. The Coalition government is not using the pharmacy white paper as its main reference point for the development of community pharmacy, but an alternative strategy has yet to be fully articulated. We have requested a meeting with Ministers and hope to inject some urgency into policy development for community pharmacy so that our sector’s potential is not overlooked in these critical early days of the new administration.”
