The National Pharmacy Association (NPA) is the trade association for the UK’s community pharmacy owners and has virtually all community pharmacies in voluntary membership. The Association provides its members with professional and commercial support as well as representing the interests of community pharmacy in dialogue with Government both at a national and European level.

The NPA is headed by the Chief Executive and the Board comprising representatives of community pharmacy from across the United Kingdom.

AYP Campaign
The NPA's Ask Your Pharmacist (AYP) 2008 campaign raises awareness of the availability and benefits of newer pharmacy services. The campaign will be seen in old and new media via:

NPA Outdoor Poster Campaign 2008
Large scale posters will be placed in outdoors in the community areas throughout the UK, within 100 metres of a community pharmacy.

Radio
You may also hear the Ask Your Pharmacist message out and about in your car or at home. The NPA has commissioned research to provide relevant and regional statistics to be used in ‘drive time’ and other radio programmes.

Ask Your Pharmacist website
The soon to be relaunched Ask Your Pharmacist website includes a pharmacy finder. You can enter a postcode to find a list of pharmacies in your locality. Consumers will be able to search either for a particular pharmacy or a particular service. Those living away from home can use the pharmacy finder to locate pharmacies near to them. Visit www.askyourpharmacist.co.uk.

Social marketing
Why not join us via the 'Ask Your Pharmacist' Facebook page for those with less exposure and interest in traditional media. After the runaway success of the 'beer mat' campaign of 2007, in 2008 we are re-launching the initiative with new health messages. The NPA will work with student unions and in partnership with the NUS to deliver eye-catching health messages.

Students will be directed to the Facebook AYP site, encouraged to sign up as a fan and forward the information to their friends. The NPA also anticipates that the page will provide an effective feedback mechanism for both the social and traditional media elements of the campaign.
